Places For Foodies
While walking around town doing photography, I could build up quite the appetite. Reno is a tourist town so it's no surprise that I get asked for recommendations like any other local of any other tourist city. There are many hidden gems all around the biggest little city in the world, I plan to try many of these hidden gems. If you're visiting Reno, here are some places I would recommend. Some of these food joints hay have a few locations outside of Reno or even Nevada all together like teriyaki madness for example, you might've tried one of these places if that's the case.
Brothers Barbecue
Brothers barbecue is a is a family-owned establishment in midtown Reno, serving fresh & delightful meals crafted from cherished family recipes passed down from generations. I visited their location on 618 south center street & enjoyed the 6 bone rib plate. I've decided to go with the southern style corn & corn bread, washing it down with a cools light & a diet coke. With 25% tip for amazing service & tax, the total cost was about $47. You'll see only 5 ribs because I ate one before the photo.
DOPO Pizza & Pasta
DOPO pizza & pasta is a pizza joint with pasta, they also make this tasty thing called a panouzzo. They have 2 locations, one in truckee & the most recent location in Reno. They're a little on the pricier side, menu has no dollar signs. I decided to try the pulpette panouzzo, it has bison-wagyu meatballs, marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese & basil inside pizza dough as bread, it's kinda like a pizza sandwich if I were to simplify it. I got a caesar salad & a glass bottle of diet coke, you can see big pieces of parmesan cheese on the top.
Papa What You Cooking
Papa what you cooking is a soul food restaurant that serves food for the soul. From a basic chicken sandwich to the flavorful sandwich such as the roast beef melt. It's located in the basement of 50 south Virginia street, Reno Nevada. I paid $17 for a roast beef melt with a side of collard greens & a cold soda, a pretty good deal for eating out alone if you ask me.
Chickie's & Pete's
Chickie's & Pete's is a
sports bar with good food like pizza, burgers, sea food & more.
The menu don't have dollar signs, you know it's one of those
higher end places. I love Mushroom Swiss burgers so you know I've had
plenty & theirs was the best so far. I paid about $32 for my meal, including a
diet coke so it can get quite expensive real quick. If you're looking for a nice place to take your date, this may be the one, especially if the date
loves burgers.
Teriyaki Madness
Teriyaki madness serves
delicious customizable teriyaki bowls for you to enjoy with a good
variety of meat. You could add extra meat, choose tofu instead of meat
& even get more teriyaki sauce. I enjoyed a steak teriyaki bowl with
extra steak, rice & veggies as you can see in the photograph. If
you're looking for a good place to take your family or date, this may be
the place for you. I would suggest you order takeout or pick your food
up because I ended up sitting next to a guy who blew his nose at the
table.
