Arlington Bridges Project

The project to replace the 2 Arlington bridges started on May 5th 2025 & is expected to be finished in summer of 2026. The Arlington avenue bridges were about 100 years old, the north bridge was built in 1921 while the south bridge was built in 1938. The north bridge on Arlington avenue was the second oldest bridge in Reno Nevada, the oldest being the Virginia street bridge before it was replaced in 2016. The Arlington avenue bridge on the north will have two overlooks, one on each side.

Keystone Data Center

The keystone data center will be a 90K square foot facility that stands 2 stories tall near the keystone square. This will be Reno’s first purpose-built interconnection data center, Centra's second data center in Reno Nevada. This locations name is RNO2 & it's a 2 phase project, phase 1 being the construction of the first $36K of the project. The RNO2 data center will sit less than 400 feet from an existing data center on 220 Gardner Street. The building method used to build the RNO2 data center is called tilt-up construction, a cost effective building method where wall panels are cast horizontally & lifted into place via crane.

The Reno Arena

The grand sierra resort is building a 10,000 seat arena, the arena project will cost about $1 billion in total. This project is a two phase project, the 1st phase costing about $435 million. The 1st phase of the project will include the 295,000 square foot arena, a 45,000 square foot community ice rink, fan plaza & an 8 level parking garage with about 2,800 parking spots.

Construction happens all around us, many don't really pay attention to it unless it impacts their travel. I use to walk past construction sights all the time, that was until wingfield park was closed off as part of the construction of the bridges on arlington avenue, now I appropriate the art of making structures out of powdered natural resources. Concrete has improved our daily lives dramatically, from transportation to communication infrastructure, our lives have been improved by the overlooked functional art. The construction of the arlington bridges has inspired me to photograph other sites all around Reno.

I've started photographing the construction of the RNO2 data center, a location owned & operated by centra digital. There was a warehouse on the lot that was unoccupied for quite a while, it was a common place for the homeless to setup camp along the side. Another construction site I've started photographing was the reno arena, a multipurpose arena being built on the grand sierra resort.
